Sorry for the lapse in blogging!! After the Bridal Expo in Abilene last Sunday, I came down with the flu!! Now that I am starting to get back on my feet, I thought that I would announce a few new purchases of mine!
A few weeks ago, I got three new lenses. For all of you photographers out there, I got a Canon 50mm f/1.8 as my first. I haven't ever shot with a prime lens before, and heard from basically everyone how wonderful they are, so I thought that I would give it a shot! I got to use this baby on Dean and Amanda's engagements below! The first few pictures were shot with this lens. The second lens that I got was a Sigma 17-70 f/2.8-4.5. The rest of Dean and Amanda's engagements were shot with this lens. I had really been wanting the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8, but for the price I just couldn't beat this Sigma! I had also heard that only 1 out of every 3 or so of that particular Canon lens was ultra-sharp, and so I am glad that I went with the Sigma. It is super sharp, and 1/3 the cost! Last but not least, I got a Tamron 28-200 f/3.8-5.6. This probably will not be on my camera for most weddings, but outside shoots like families and engagements, it is great for! Many of Scott and Krystal's engagement pictures were shot with this lens. It has a great wide to telephoto zoom that makes it great for sneaking in to get a close shot! It should be really helpful for getting pictures of always on-the-go kiddos!
Then, last week I ordered this new baby...
It came in this past week while I was stuck in Abilene, so I still haven't seen it yet, but it is a Canon 5D!! I am really excited to have this camera, and can't wait to use it as my main camera, and have my current 40D as my backup!
Then, for my belated Valentine's present I got a ShootSac with the Baroque cover that is made by photographer Jessica Claire, along with two new 8GB SanDisk Extreme 4 CF cards! My mother and father in law gave me one of these cards for Christmas, and after one shoot with it, I couldn't believe that I had ever done a shoot without! They are so fast and allow me to shoot photo after photo with none of that awful lag time!
(Both of those photos were copied from Amazon, as I haven't seen my 5D or ShootSac in person yet!!)
I also photographed Kristen's bridal portraits the Thursday before I left for Abilene, but you will have to wait to see those until after the wedding in a few months!! Her engagement pictures with Aaron are coming up, soon!!
